Rene Ahoud, a composer and producer of storytelling music for film, the arts and advertising, runs the Johnny Raw studio since 2006.
His greatest passion lies in crafting storytelling music that puts experience, perception, atmosphere and creating a sound-image first.

Making music for choreography, sound experiments and sonology at the Conservatory in The Hague lead to a sound engineering course at the School of Audio Engineering, work in life sound , audio-post production and radio&TV work, culminating in the birth of the Johnny Raw Studio in 2006. I was a teacher, composed soundtracks and library music, recorded and produced bands, did voice tracking for computer games, audio books and commercials and composed and engineered for audio-tours.
In the present years I focus on storytelling music and sound for film, documentary, art projects and (promotional) video’s.
Currently I am working on tracks for two artists, 3D music and sound events in public space as well as composing tracks for music library Sound Imagery.

MISSION
Supporting the creation of impactful stories.
APPROACH
The core of my work lies in the synergy between image and sound. I have always been very much fascinated by the experiment that both music and sound seemed to invite me to, especially in relation to image or other storytelling content.
To get to the core of storytelling music and sound, in my case, emphasis is put on tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure thus focusing on creating the right mood and giving a story more impact. Working and cooperating on music for picture and stories feels like my natural habitat. I also worked on 3D music and sound projects, field-recording and new ways of approaching my instruments and equipment. Doing so, I found an authentic way to balance all these elements, incorporating both tradition and experiment.
